At Iron Sight Defense we offer premier firearms training in Kentucky. We believe that the fundamentals and basics are the foundation and cornerstone of a proficient shooter, and that a survival mindset and proper training are the deciding factors in a life threatening encounter.
Marksmanship, Gun Handling, and Mindset must run on autopilot in order to remain mentally engaged with a dynamically changing environment. These three must be programmed through repetition, mental algorithm and muscle memory. Through my personal experience I am a firm believer in the adage “Train like you fight and you will fight like you train.”
Proper instruction in an academic atmosphere from the beginning will make a great difference in your firearms training and a shooter’s development, and at Iron Sight Defense (Kentucky) thats just what you get. The novice shooter will experience a wealth of knowledge and helpful instruction in applying new techniques to create their own personal shooting style, while the experienced shooter will gain benefits from the exposure to different perspectives, as you should seek training in as many techniques from as many sources as possible to continue your growth as a shooter and to develop a system that works for you.

Our firearms training classes begin with the fundamentals and progress to diversify the shooter as we make every effort to analyze and improve each individual’s shooting technique, so that each student will not only understand the fundamentals, but be able to apply them to their own style and ability as we work together toward being safer, more proficient, and capable shooters.
I.S.D. Training Center is the premier real world firearms and tactics training range in South East Kentucky.
The I.S.D. campus currently offers:
- 30 x 30 yard Flat Range
- 4 acres of Variable Range
- Over 45+ steel, paper, and 3-D targets
- Simulated training structures / Live fire shoot house, and training vehicles
- Our Short Range is 0-300 meters
- Our Distance Range is 0-650 meters
- We have out door classroom facilities
- and over 150+ acres of wooded and cleared area for training scenarios.
The I.S.D. Training Center is located in Rockcastle County KY on private property approx 7 miles off exit 62 on I-75, and operates as a private training center only open to the public through class registration.
